DAF Wastewater Treatment by Industry
DAF Corp designs dissolved air flotation systems for every industrial and municipal wastewater application — each one engineered specifically for your wastewater chemistry and discharge requirements.
Your Industry, Our Expertise
Every wastewater stream is different. Food processing FOG is not the same as dairy clarification, which is nothing like oil field produced water. We engineer for your specific contaminants — not a generic one-size-fits-all solution. DAF Corp systems operate in 9 countries across 4 continents.
Food Processing Wastewater Treatment
Food and beverage processors generate some of the most variable and challenging wastewater in any industry. It is high in FOG and BOD, it carries suspended food solids, and flows fluctuate with production schedules. A DAF system that works during low production must also handle peak loads. It cannot be allowed to fail your discharge permit.
DAF Corp has extensive experience with canneries, frozen food processors, vegetable washers, fruit packers, juice operations, and beverage manufacturers. We begin every food processing project with laboratory analysis of your worst-case wastewater, not your average effluent. Then we design your system to handle it reliably.

Dairy Wastewater Clarification
Dairy wastewater is among the most challenging streams to clarify. It is high in fats, proteins, and biochemical oxygen demand. It also decomposes quickly, which creates odor issues if it is not treated fast. Cheese plants, fluid milk processors, yogurt manufacturers, and ice cream operations each have a distinct wastewater profile. Each needs specific chemistry and system design.
Our dairy DAF systems are designed for the unique characteristics of milk-derived waste. Emulsified butterfat resists conventional settling. Whey proteins interfere with standard coagulants. CIP cleaning solution surges can spike pH and flow at the same time. We design for all of it, because we have seen all of it.

Meat & Poultry Wastewater Treatment
Slaughterhouses, further-processing facilities, and poultry operations produce high-strength wastewater. It carries extreme FOG concentrations, blood, feathers, and other organic matter that can overwhelm conventional treatment. DAF systems are the industry standard for primary treatment of meat and poultry processing wastewater. They are one of the only technologies that can consistently achieve the FOG removal levels that NPDES permits and POTW surcharge structures demand.
DAF Corp has designed systems for beef, pork, lamb, and poultry operations of all sizes, including rendering facilities. These waste streams are corrosive. We specify materials accordingly: stainless steel, HDPE, and corrosion-resistant alloys where the process demands it.

Municipal Wastewater Treatment
Municipal wastewater authorities face a demanding combination of pressures. Influent quality is highly variable. NPDES permit limits are increasingly strict. Infrastructure is aging, operating budgets are tight, and service populations are growing. DAF gives municipal operators one of the most effective tools for primary and tertiary clarification. For fine solids, phosphorus, and algae, its removal efficiencies are ones conventional clarifiers cannot match.
DAF Corp provides municipal systems for primary clarification and tertiary polishing. Applications include phosphorus removal with chemical precipitation, algae removal from reservoir and lake intakes, and solids thickening for sludge handling. Our municipal systems comply with all applicable AWWA, WEF, and state design standards.

Produced Water & Oil Field Treatment
Oil and gas produced water is one of the most technically demanding wastewater applications in any industry. It can be highly saline. It carries suspended solids from the reservoir formation, emulsified hydrocarbons, and treatment chemicals. It is often hot and pressurized, which affects equipment selection and material compatibility. DAF Corp has designed systems for onshore conventional and unconventional plays, offshore platforms, and produced water recycling in water-stressed regions.
Our oil field DAF systems are designed for the realities of remote field locations. They offer robust construction, simplified maintenance, and reliable operation with minimal on-site staffing. Where required, we specify materials, seals, and electrical equipment for classified areas.

Brewery & Distillery Wastewater Treatment
Craft breweries, large-scale brewing operations, and distilleries generate high-BOD, high-TSS wastewater. Yeast, grain solids, and hops material add complexity and can blind conventional equipment. Municipal surcharges for high-strength brewery waste have led many brewers to evaluate on-site primary treatment. DAF is the most effective pre-treatment technology available for brewery wastewater.
DAF Corp systems reduce BOD surcharge loads by 40–65% and TSS surcharges by 90%+. They often repay the capital investment within 2–3 years in reduced discharge fees alone. We have worked with craft breweries, regional operations, and major national brands. Facilities have ranged from 50 to 5,000 barrels per day.

Aquaculture & Fish Hatchery Treatment
Recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) depend on exceptional water quality. It protects fish health, growth rates, and feed conversion efficiency. DAF is increasingly replacing conventional drum filters and settling tanks as the primary solids removal technology in RAS facilities. It achieves superior TSS and pathogen removal and maintains dissolved oxygen levels. It also handles the fine suspended solids that conventional screens miss.
DAF Corp designs aquaculture systems for salmon, trout, tilapia, catfish, shrimp, and other species. We also design for algae cultivation facilities that harvest biomass with DAF. Our systems run at hydraulic loading rates optimized for the biological oxygen demand of your species and stocking density.

Industrial Wastewater Clarification
Manufacturing, metalworking, textile dyeing, paper and pulp, and chemical processing generate a wide range of wastewater challenges. Examples include metalworking coolant emulsions, paint overspray, paper fiber, and dye carriers. DAF is frequently the most effective clarification technology for these streams. The contaminants are often too light or too fine to settle by gravity within a practical retention time.
DAF Corp engineers have experience across a broad range of industrial applications. We always begin with laboratory characterization of your specific waste stream. Industrial wastewater is inherently variable, and the wrong chemistry or system design delivers predictably poor results.
