Technical Guidance for Selecting and Sizing DAF Clarifiers

These articles are written by the engineers who design DAF Corporation systems. They help plant managers, consultants, and design engineers make preliminary decisions. Each one answers a question we hear often on early project calls.

Nothing here replaces a site-specific design. Final sizing depends on your wastewater characteristics, peak flow, solids loading, treatment chemistry, and effluent targets. Every DAF Corp project starts with laboratory analysis of your actual wastewater.

    Quick Reference

Round and Rectangular DAF at a Glance

    • The FC Maximizer is a round, zero-velocity clarifier. Hydraulic retention time is typically 2–5 minutes, with TSS and FOG removal up to 99%.
    • Rectangular units such as the Unimax typically run 15–45 minutes of retention, with removal in the 90% range.
    • FC Maximizer models run from FC 40 to FC 700, with total hydraulic capacities from 29 to 11,950 GPM.
    • Flow ratings are published both as total hydraulic capacity and as flow with a 25% recycle stream.
